2025 Anatomage Teacher Award Recipients
We are excited to announce the following recipients of the 2025 Anatomage Teacher Awards.
This year’s honorees have exemplified passion, creativity, and innovation in teaching anatomy and medical sciences using Anatomage technology.
Outstanding Teacher Award

Mikaela Drake, Ph.D.
Associate Professor of Health Sciences and Assistant Program Director, Butler University Dr. Mikaela Drake inspires her students through collaborative, hands-on learning—such as building human structure prototypes using the Anatomage Table. Her teaching shifts the focus from rote memorization to deep, conceptual understanding, all within an environment that fosters curiosity and lifelong learning.
Trailblazer Award

Joel Otte
EMS and Fire Science Education Coordinator, Des Moines Area Community College Joel Otte seamlessly blends real EMS case narratives with Anatomage-based exploration to create story-driven, immersive lessons. His innovative approach bridges classroom learning and real-world application, elevating EMS education and inspiring deeper engagement.
Top Contributor Award

Katelyn Christensen
Anatomy & Physiology Teacher, Grand Terrace High School Katelyn Christensen is an active contributor to Anatomage Share, where she provides high-impact, classroom-tested resources—such as her widely used Anatomage Tournament. Her creative tools transform lessons and exam reviews into interactive, collaborative learning experiences for the wider Anatomage community.
Research Pioneer Award

Erica Ausel, Ph.D.
Assistant Professor of Anatomy, Marian University Dr. Erica Ausel has integrated Anatomage into multiple research initiatives and published articles that advance best practices in health science education. Her most recent work—a multi-year, grant-funded project—focuses on evaluating the effectiveness of virtual dissection in anatomy instruction.
Each recipient will receive:
- $1,000 check
- Complimentary registration to the Anatomage Conference
- Commemorative certificate and trophy celebrating their outstanding achievements

We are excited to expand the Anatomage Teacher Awards this year, recognizing the exceptional contributions of science educators in four categories. These awards celebrate teachers who have had a positive impact on their students, school, and community through innovative science instruction and the effective use of Anatomage products.
Award Categories
Outstanding Teacher Award
Recognizing one teacher who has made a significant impact on their students, school, and community through exemplary classroom science learning, demonstrating excellence in inspiring STEM learning, and using innovative Anatomage techniques.
Trailblazer Award
Honoring a teacher who uses Anatomage in a unique and innovative way to enhance learning and inspire students.
Top Contributor Award
Awarded to the educator whose high-quality content on Anatomage Share stands out for its educational value, clarity, and impact within the community.
Research Pioneer Award
Recognizing an educator who is utilizing Anatomage technology in published studies or ongoing academic projects, pushing the boundaries of research and education.
Eligibility

The 2025 Anatomage Teacher Awards are open to candidates who:
- Teach in a public, private or charter school at the High school, Undergraduate, or Graduate/Post-graduate level
- Teach in the United States
- Use an Anatomage product as part of their curriculum
One winner will be chosen for each award category. Applicants may apply to one or more award categories.
Recognition
Recipients of the Anatomage Teacher Awards will receive:
- $1,000 check
- Complimentary registration to the Anatomage Conference
- Commemorative certificate and trophy
Winners may also have opportunities to:
- Be recognized in press releases, media interviews, social media announcements and Anatomage’s website
- Present at webinars and/or live events
- Share experiences and expertise with the Anatomage community
How to Apply
Thank you for your interest in the 2025 Anatomage Teacher Award program. The nomination stage of the program is now closed.
Winners will be notified by July 1, 2025 via email.
Thank you again for your interest, and best of luck to all of our 2025 award nominees!
All applications must be received by 9:00pm Pacific time on Sunday, June 15, 2025 in order to be considered. This includes:
- Completed application form
- Written responses to the following questions in the award category applied for. Each response should not exceed 500 words.
- Up to 2 additional materials may be included to support your application (photos, video, letter of recommendation, etc)
Questions
Outstanding Teacher Award
- How do you inspire your students to study anatomy and physiology? How has your teaching made a difference in the lives of your students?
- What does success look like for your students and your program? Include evidence, such as data, stories, or anecdotes, to support your response.
Trailblazer Award
- How have you used Anatomage technology in a unique or unconventional way to support student learning or engagement?
- What outcomes or changes have you observed as a result of this innovative approach? Provide examples or stories that highlight its impact.
Top Contributor Award
- Share an example of content you’ve uploaded to Anatomage Share. Describe how it supports teaching, enhances learning, or fills a specific classroom need.
- What inspired you to create this content, and how do you approach designing resources that are useful for other educators?
Research Pioneer Award
- How are you using Anatomage technology in your research or academic work? Describe the goals and scope of your project.
- Has your research been published within the past year, or is it currently in progress? Please share relevant findings, publications, or plans for future dissemination.
Timeline
The timeline for applications and award announcements is as follows:
- May 1, 2025: Applications open
- June 15, 2025: Applications close
- July 1, 2025: Award recipients notified
- July 11, 2025: Award presentation at 2025 Anatomage Conference
